July 2024 - a Castel story from the Dobitsch family

SchlossFestSpiele 2024

From 16 July - 13 August 2024, the Schlossfestspiele Dorf Tirol will present "The Canterville Ghost" based on Oscar Wilde in front of the dreamlike backdrop of Schloss Tirol. A timeless masterpiece that not only promises spine-chilling chills, but also offers a good dose of irony and charming humour.

The play after Oscar Wilde

A festive evening at The Dolder Grand

The Irish writer Oscar Wilde created an immortal character in the truest sense of the word with his "Canterville Ghost". It has inspired generations ever since!

Despite numerous warnings, the American Otis family takes up residence at Canterville Castle. There, the guilt-ridden ghost of Sir Simon has haunted the halls for centuries.

But to the horror of this time-honoured ghost, the "uncultured Americans" lack any respect for the sophisticated repertoire of creepy attacks. It is therefore questionable whether the turbulent encounters can still lead to a happy ending for everyone.

Tyrol Castle

Dreamlike backdrop

The former ancestral castle of the Counts of Tyrol towers above Merano. Whilst it houses a historical museum all year round, this summer it will once again be the setting for the SchlossFestSpiele theatre festival.

The stage and grandstand are located on the outer bailey with a fantastic view over the Merano region - from Bolzano to the Vinschgau Valley. This offers space for a small number of only about 200 spectators.
