May 2024 - a Castel story from the Dobitsch family
We are 1 of the 101 best
The renowned ranking "The 101 Best Hotels", which was founded in 2019 by Carsten K. Rath - well-known columnist for Capital, NTV, Bunte.de and others - has expanded its horizons to include South Tyrol.
The Castel was one of only a few hotels on the south side of the Brenner Pass to be included.
The award
A festive evening at The Dolder Grand
On Sunday 5 May, the presentation of the "101 best hotels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and South Tyrol" took place at the beautiful "The Dolder Grand" in Zurich. In addition to the hoteliers, there were also many prominent laudators, such as Kai Pflaume, who presented the award to "his" favourite hotel in Hamburg, the Vier Jahreszeiten.
Together with his father, Daniel Dobitsch was a guest of Carsten K. Rath and his son David (the creators of the 101 Best Hotels). Since then, we have known that the Castel is one of the finest hotels in the German-speaking world and we were overjoyed.
It was a fantastic evening with a festive atmosphere, great people and culinary highlights from 2-star chef Heiko Nieder.
The ranking
Independent, transparent and comprehensible
The recording makes us incredibly proud, because it has the greatest possible objectivity. To achieve this, the makers rely on three pillars with equal weighting:
The first pill ar consists of the votes of guests, taking into account relevant review portals, while the second pillar takes into account awards from established publications such as the Hornstein Ranking, Guide Michelin, Gault Millau, Forbes, etc.
The third pillar is the view of recognised hotel experts, who inspect the hotels incognito on site and rate them according to the "101 Best" hotel criteria.
The data from all three pillars is collated by the International University of Munich (IU) using an algorithm.
